What Are The 40 Most Well Read Blog Posts in 2023?

Once again, time to look back at the blog post content most often read this past year.

Top Posts

Once again, it is sobering to see so much anti-trans violence. I am humbled to do this work for over a decade as a friend requested of me, but very sad as well. Indeed, 35 of our more frequently read posts explores this terror on the lives of trans, gender nonconforming, and non binary neighbors.

One post also gives me mixed feelings – our annual roundup of Toys for Tots information in Western Pennsylvania. So, I post this consolidated information to help people who are unfamiliar with negotiating poverty programs. Although, I wrote that post on October 6, in under 3 months, it soared to the top of this list. Thus, it is a sobering indicator of economic realities and the way “programs” work. (2)

One such program is affordable housing and I’m glad so many of you read this post (26) Phil Ameris, Pres of Construction Worker’s Union, Disparages Affordable Housing, Working Class Families He may have power and influence, but his values do not reflect ours.

Other Topics

Another perspective was the popularity (27) of my political Q&A with Kate Lovelace, Magistrate-elect 05-2-31 in the East End. Another Q&A on the list (34) features City Controller Elect Rachael Heisler. Moreover, I love that these two women in politics have generated such interest year round. In addition, Rachael was the very first Q&A we published in 2023. Keep that in mind all you 2024 candidates – ask for your Q&A early.

Then a post from 2022 describing the decision of Nielsen Ratings to fire us while we had COVID-19. (28) This is absurd because after I wrote the post, Nielsen contacted us as if they had no prior contact. We declined to participate. They tried two more times and then slunk away.

Rounding out the list is another evergreen post from 2019 – a tribute to Franco Harris. That makes me smile with some sadness on this one year anniversary of his death.
