25 year old Kansas Trans Woman Killed by Off-Duty Fire Captain in a Terrible Vehicle Collission

A 25 year-old tran woman named Katherine Allison Harrison was killed after being struck by a vehicle on October 29, 2026. The driver was an off-duty Kansas City, Kansas fire captain named Tripper L. Sadler. She used the name Allison. Her partner called her Katherine.

Allison was parked legally on the side of the road, standing behind her vehicle looking into the trunk. Her hazard lights were on. Sadler was driving a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek northbound on the right shoulder of I-35, It is unknown why Sadler was driving on the shoulder.

Sadler hit Allison, propelling her and her car across three lanes of traffic. Not propelling her in her car, but her actual body and the car. She died on the scene.

Sadler remains employed by the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department. Department leadership stated they are awaiting the conclusion of the law enforcement investigation before making further personnel determinations. Police have preliminarily ruled out impairment, but are still investigating why Sadler was on the shoulder. You might want to share your thoughts on his life continuing as normal with so many questions left unanswered.

Honoring Allison

She was born in Liberty, Missouri relocating to Kansas City, Kansas and settling in a suburban community named Shawnee.

Allison seems to have appreciate online action games or at least the characters, several of which she shared on social media. She has siblings and extended family who survive her.

Her older sister said

Since i became an adult we have supported each other in so many ways and i dont know what to do without you. It still doesnt feel real. You deserved a happy life more than anyone i know, you fought so hard to become the person you were, and i hope and pray to whatever gods are out there that you are in a place where you can finally be your full self and happy. I love you so much Allison, ill see you later sis.

Allison and her partner Echo had recently taken a trip to Pike’s Peak. I haven’t found much other data baout her, but I encourage her friends and family to hlep me document details of her life.

Her obituary shares “She loved to work on things, as she was a fixer-even at her own expense.” It is unclear if that references her spending money on repairs for other people or the reason she stopped that fatal night.

There will be a celebration of life for Allison from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at Meyers Northland Chapel (401 Main Street Parkville, MO). The family requests that everyone wear Allison’s favorite color, neon green, in her honor. They kindly ask that guests refrain from wearing black simply come as they are. The family wants this to be a celebration of Allison’s life and the person she was.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to: Our Spot KC (https://www.ourspotkc.org/), The Trevor Project (https://give.thetrevorproject.org/), or the National MS Society (https://share.google/dLnNPQHcFS053ITdy).

Context

Allison is the 32nd person whose death we’ve memorialized in 2026. (see below)

She is the 26th trans woman and the 10th white trans person.

From Kansad, we’ve reported on these deaths in 2024: Kita Bee 2022: Ace Scott 2019: Brooklyn Lindsey 2018 Brianna Hill, From nearby Missouri, 2025, Kelsey Elem was killed. In 2024, Kita Bee. In 2023, Amber Minor . In 2022, Dee Dee Kandii Redd  was killed. In. 2021, we lost Dominique Lucious. Then in 2020, both Nina Pop  and Aerrion Burnett died. In 2019, Brooklyn Lindsey. No reported deaths in 2018, but two reported in 2017: Kiwi Herring and Ally Steinfeld

Her death is quite grisly, it is hard to even think of her final moments. How a first responder could be so reckless is beyond me. If he wasn’t intoxicated, what was he? Surely he’s been on the scene of car accidents and had a better than average understanding of driving risks. That doesn’t mean anything, it may pump up someone’s sense of entitlement and control because they are a first responder. I’m sure the thin red line offers a degree of protection Allison didn’t warrant when she lawfully parked and looking in her trunk.

The thing is, we don’t have the luxury of not thinking about the violence of her death. Averting our gaze just creates space for more atrocious behavior. It is ludicrous to say she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was legally parked and engaged in a perfectly legal action of looking in her trunk.

The person in the wrong place was Tripper Sadler. He was not supposed to be on that berm driving so fast. And I hope you’ll contact the Kansas City Fire Department to demand he be placed on leave or at least desk duty until the investigation can assure Kansas City residents that he is indeed fit for duty.

But given that he violently killed someone who was legally parked, a suspension is warranted, I just can’t see any explanation that would explain this.

I learned about her death on Threads where a friend of the family posted her frustration about the media reports. The discussion has been interesting. Kansas is a very anti-trans state. They passed legislation requiring all residents official documents like a drivers license or a passport to use the gender assigned at birth, even invalidating existing documents. The state also has very restrictive bathroom laws with significant fines. Visit the ACLU of Kansas to learn more.

You can always reach out to me about memorializing our neighbors.

Rest in power, Allison. You deserves to grow up and grow old, to chase every dream, and to experience the world. You did everything right in that moment. I am sorry. I am so sorry your life was ripped away by violence and casual cruelty.

I wish I could comfort you.

May your memory be a revolution.
