Her name was Daniella Analee Escobedo. She was a 34 year old Latina trans woman, living in Las Vegas. To clarify, I have seen her name spelled Daniela and Daniella. I’m going to use Daniella because that is a name I’ve confirmed is attached to a social media account she controlled. I realize that may not be correct and will update if needed.

Reports of her death circulated on TikTok, but there’s not very many details. We can’t find reports of incidents that might have been her.

Then another researcher found an obituary. Again, details are sparse. But the tribute video is beautiful. Someone clearly loved Daniella very much. The wake will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California on May 11, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

We need to find more information. In previous posts, I’ve shared my concerns about the changing nature of media coverage of these acts of violence targeting trans folx. I’ve reached out to multiple sources and hope to learn more about Daniella’s life and the details of her death.

I’m sharing this in hopes of connecting with someone who knew Daniella or has more information about her death. She deserves to have her life honored so confirming the social media accounts and the details about her life are important. Of course, understanding the circumstances of her death is vitally important.

Coming on the heels of the atypical reporting in the shooting death of Lucas Redbeard Knapp, I’m uneasy about the lack of reporting about Daniella. Reports are that Daniella may have been a sex worker, a detail that might explain some of the lack of reporting. The media has a well-established bias against sex workers. Still, in previous cases, there was still a report however skewed.

I’m concerned the media are eliminating trans people from even their own violent deaths. That’s troubling.

So we turn to the community for help. We know Daniella was 34 and most recently living in Las Vegas. She may have been born somewhere in the Greater Los Angeles area. Her date of death is listed as April 12, 2026. All reports of homicides or suspicious deaths in Las Vegas have been tied to other victims. Searching for that information in Los Angeles is very difficult.

If you are aware of trans, nonbinary, or gender nonconforming neighbor or friend who died a violent death, reaching out to the researchers is an option. Certainly not an obligation. There are multiple points of access – through this blog, through the Trans Doe Task Force, the FB group Trans Violence News, LGBTQ Fallen Angels, TransGriot, and more.

Our focus is to celebrate the life and acknowledge the death of each member of this community. Yes, for Trans Day of Remembrance events, but also to ensure visibility and awareness. We cannot force mainstream media to do this work, so we do it ourselves.

On Trans Day of Visibility, Daniella shared the following. “Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy.” I did not know Daniella, but I am grateful she moved through this world. I hope to learn more about her so we can all properly mourn her passing.
