Two big McIntire lesbian items of note … First, I'll be around 2:20 this afternoon to chat about Mary Cheney and Heather Poe's baby son. Second, I got a nice shout out as a “sometimes political” blogger who confirmed Bruce Kraus' gayness. If you want to know who else is gay, but not open about it […]
The Post-Gazette reports that local gay business owner and community advocate, Jay Bernard, has passed away. Jay and his business partner Bill Stanhope owned Jay Design in Lawrenceville. Jay was the founder of the Boys of Lawrenceville “a benevolent organization of gay men” and the author of a monthly column about pet adoption. I've heard […]
The absurd …a father is suing an Arkansas library because his sons “stumbled across” the Whole Lesbian Sex Book which disturbed them greatly. I believe the quote is that they had two sleepless nights at his house. Hmm … The ridiculous …Rudy Guiliani does a big and very public flipflop on civil unions. In case […]
Reverend Edwards once again faces church court charges for performing a lesbian wedding. Previous charges were dropped due to technicalities, which some suspect was a convenient way for the Presbyterian Church to sidestep the larger issues around gay and lesbian members of the faith community. A Florida minister has again filed a complaint against the […]
DNC Chairman Howard Dean was in town this weekend to address the annual convention of the National Stonewall Democrats aka “gay Democrats.” Dean told the assembled faithful that Stonewall has made the party “stronger, more inclusive, more courageous, more tenacious.” (PG) Mr. Dean said DNC operatives had been instructed to work with the gay community […]
In an appearance on yet another right wingnut talk program, Ricky Sanctimonious played his oh-so-tired homo card. Again. This time he was on Janet Parshall's America (I wish I had my own America), a nationally syndicated talk radio program. I picked this up from the Raw Story. Read what Ricky has to say this time […]
I missed this, but on Thursday the Trib published a column by Jim Powell, a senior fellow at the Cato Institute (limited government, free markets, etc). Powell explains how federal regulation of marriage proved to be a bad conservative idea back in the days of Theodore Roosevelt. Polygamous families were producing more children than monogamous families […]
Soulforce is hoping to put up 16 of these billboards in June in opposition to the Federal Marriage Amendment. You can help. The anti-gay forces are making another attempt to amend the U.S. Constitution to define marriage in such a way as to exclude the families of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. Senator Bill […]
While he deftly minces closer to his own heterosexual-style wedding to the lovely and talented Roberta, our good friend and lesbian-lover John McIntire gave gay marriage a big old shout out in his local blog, MacYapper.com. In spite of his fondness for large-fonted bold-faced type (I always wondered what his type was), McIntire adroitly dissects […]
Marriage may be safe in Ohio, but unmarried women aren't. This past week, an appellate court overturned the conviction of an Ohio man convicted of domestic violence (a fourth degree felony) because he was not married to his victim. The court found that the domestic violence sentence violates the constitutional amendment designed to protect marriage from […]
