Today, October 8, is International Day of the Lesbian. Or International Lesbian Day. Also known as Lesbian Day. Not to be confused with Lesbian Day of Visibility in April.
On these commemorative days, I like to revisit the archive. Sometimes, I publish the #AMPLIFY posts, sometimes my original content.
I see some themes – Thanksgiving, complaints that I don’t publish enough lesbian-centric content, and the slurs/hate/bigotry. I’ll be celebrating 20 years of blogging in December (December 29) so any look back is useful. Somehow I’ve got to archive this mammoth – please do not send me suggestions about interns and Pitt/CMU/Heinz History – and plan ahead.
But the Day of the Lesbian is more than just my blog. Mine contained cats, soap operas, a delivery from the food pantry, Greek yogurt, laundry, losing and finding my checkbook, a stash of stickers I had forgotten, and more. Typical everyday stuff that’s fairly universal. Nothing unusual. I’m having a reheated crabcake and brown rice for dinner. Sexy stuff!
There is no lesbian community without the trans and nonbinary communities. There is no lesbian community without QTPOC. Not without disabled folx, without immigrants, without elders and youngsters, without poor folx, without all of us.
