New #ThingsToDo: a List from Elijah, Age 8

Total Lists Submitted: 10

Total Amount Raised for Food Pantry: $100.00 (out of $1,000.00 possible)

This is our new project #ThingsToDo where we invite youth to create and share a list of things to occupy time and cope with boredom. You’ll fine the details at this link. Your young people are welcome to participate. Here’s the cool thing – in addition to creating a central hub of suggestions for all young people, we have donors who have pledged $10 per list for the Northside Community Food Pantry. So each list helps other kids AND helps neighbors counting on the food pantry.

If you would like to donate to the Food Pantry directly, here is the link. Please note that they are ONLY accepting financial donations for the health and safety of their volunteers and clients.

If you or your kids find these lists helpful or useful, please leave a comment. This is a great activity for kids to help during the pandemic.

This is my nibling (gender neutral term for niece/nephew) Elijah. He is 8 years old and submitted a very interesting twist on the project – documentation of him learning how to make pretzels with one of his moms. His other mom documented the process in photos and at my request, Elijah recorded a video to summarize his experience.

They used a recipe called 30 Minute Homemade Soft Pretzels.

Elijah prepares himself for his adventure in cooking.
Mixing. He mentions this in his video clip.
Get the dough ready.
Roll out the pretzel dough to make your shapes.
Watch them cook without opening the door to the oven 18 times
Cooling is important
Now for the final step – yum!

Thank you, Elijah!
