Air Supply will be in Greensburg tomorrow (Thursday) and I am not going to be there.

I’ve seen them twice – once at the Allegheny County fair with my friend John in 2001 when we ended up in an Air Supply mosh pit at the Allegheny County Fair. The second time was June 2022 when Laura and I saw them at the Palace Theater in Greensburg to commemorate the easing of the COVID pandemic.

We had tried to see them at the casino around 2010, but my anxiety got the best of me and I could not get myself out the door. It is one of many moments that I beat myself up about to this day. I hate what this disease has done to me and the people in my life.

I really wanted to go this time. The show is produced locally by Drusky Entertainment – often I can get media passes, but I didn’t ask them year. And I cannot afford $75+ for a ticket (add on transportation, etc.) I would probably prefer to go alone at this point.

Perhaps it is for the best. John and Laura were the perfect concert companions (or so I thought) and it would be hard to top that. But tickets are still available and I can promise you – my Gen X friends – you will love it. They are quite good as musical artists and continue to explore (and tour) new boundaries. It is not the show you would have caught in 1982, but that’s the point right?

One thing – the “Airhead” fans are amazing. They follow the band around the world. In 2022, the man behind us had flown to Greensburg from Brazil to see the show. That’s just … wow. Everyone was so nice and polite.

I even broke my mech rule and bought a shirt.

This acoustic arrangement of Lost in Love is lovely. It is so easy to write this group off, but they’ve sold more than 100 million albums, still touring and producing new music after 50 years. They have huge hits that remain very popular. Graham Russell is considered one of the great guitarists because of his fancy upside down chord thing and a respected songwriter. Russell Hitchcock pulls off those stadium anthems impressively in his 70’s.

I can’t see a downside to a 50 year career that I’m sure is very financially lucrative, adoring fans, knowing you had an emotional impact on millions of lives, and no band drama. “Not being” a bigger band is silly given that “not being on par with Air Supply” knocks out almost every artist, right?
