I broke down the crowdfund into small goals to help me move and find some sort of independence. So week by week, I will update the GoFundMe and this blog.
During this shift from married lady to Gay Divorcee, I’ll be updating quite a bit as needs become apparent.
People seem to prefer smaller goals, hopefully that is true of you.
The first goal was to order a keyboard size broom crafted by Joy, Rootwoman Broomcraft & Apothecary. This is a tool to add to my rituals for researching and writing memorials. The creator is a Black queer woman and a Hoodoo artist. The broom it is a powerful implement for spiritual cleansing, boundary protection, and removing bad luck or curses. It is appropriate for me to use this because Joy is crafting it for me. There are similar practices in most cultures including white European. I am grateful for the support.
Second, I have a wonderful housekeeperr/organizer who can help me get my life packed in an efficient way, help move, and then help me set it up to minimize anxiety and ensure I’ll be in good shape. He only charges $25/hour which is amazing for even housecleaning.
We will start on November 5 so before then I’d like to raise $200 to cover his first two weeks.
This is a basic need to navigate the emotional fallout and set me up for success. Working with someone trustworthy and kind is worth his weight in gold. He’ll be doing a lot of planning and helping distribute unneeded items and so much more.
I have other friends who are willing to help me. Having one person coordinating a plan is going to help me a lot. Plus, he will be doing his usual cleaning. So the goal is $200. The larger goal for this is $900 to cover preparation, packing, and then unpacking. It is simply true – spending $100 for someone to devote 4 hours to unpack with me is a good foundation, especially during a sad time. I won’t be living out of boxes for weeks or months, I’ll be settled in a home.
We have raised $130 toward this goal. Can we dig up $70 in additional donations? Then onward to goal #3
I am in a sadness and grief crisis as one would expect with a divorce.
