It’s Saturday night. I’m watching The Devil Wears Prada 2 while sipping cranberry juice. Exciting times. Here’s my regular crowdfund update.
First witness interview yesterday. It went well, but left me pondering if there is any win/win scenario. Why do either of us have to lose? #idealism
The court scheduled the trial for Oct 20 and 23. Guess whose birthday is October 22? Sigh.
There are still so many possibilities and probabilities overwhelming my head-space. There’s no clear path forward, if A happens then B happens. Except for the bad outcomes that of course taunt me without relief.
I’ve been focused on housing. There are still no solutions for short or medium term housing. I’ve consulted multiple experts. I will be in bad shape. Making it worse is that so few people believe me. Why would I make this up – it can be verified so easily? I suspect people do not want to wrestle with the realities of the housing crisis intruding on middle and upper middle class spaces. It is easier to write me off as hysterical than help me find a solution.
Yesterday I learned that no matter what, I will lose my spousal healthcare at the end of the month the decree is issued. Period. So likely November. This is state law so no wiggle room. Even if I get a stay for housing, it won’t apply for health insurance. I might be eligible for a 18 month cobra extension, but no clue how much it will be and then there’s month 19, right?
I had an anxiety attack. While I do have Medicare, its a modest plan. And none of my mental health providers are Medicare authorized. They’ve tried. Medicare did not. This is not something I learned until 2024. I was shocked.
So on Dec 1 or Jan 1, I will need a robust Medicare plan AND a private plan from the Marketplace so I can continue with my treatment team. And be able to pay for my meds.
That’s going to cost about $600/month, leaving me $1000 for every other expense including copays. Google Medicare Part D and subsidy for another level of tragedy.
So I’m sitting here on a Saturday night watching TV while my hair dries, softly crying because without housing and health insurance – there’s no possible win/win.
I never thought any of this would ever happen – the 302, the PFA, the denial of 16 years of partnership, and the ruptured relationship with my longtime companion. I definitely did not see cruelly denying me housing, health insurance, and all that goes with it.
It sets me up for the Trump MH Institutional Plan for my golden years. Sophia Petrillo would not approve.
So our legal team has two more witness meetings, then depositions. I’m apprehensive because I don’t have court clothes. Dress? pantsuit? I need to hit the thrift stores.
But I can’t do anything now. I’ll call PENNIE and Medicare advisors after the trial and hope there’s an affordable solution. No housing solutions so that’s just wishing upon a star.
Save myself, save the world.
Now back to Miranda Priestley. Maybe I’ll find court clothing inspiration.
