What does June bring to mind from your childhood? #PghPridePosts

Happy Pride and welcome to my #PghPridePosts series.

Today I post a video reflecting on the month of June as a kid and an adult. Remember when summer began in June, not solstice June but June June?

My physical therapist told me I needed new sandals because of my back and plantar fasciitis. Fortunately, the brand I had always worn is a solid choice. The sandals with the right support cost me about $120.

There was a time when buying new shoes at the recommendation of a health care provider would have been a no-brainer. Now is not that time, I did it but I have to sacrifice somewhere. I don’t want to limp through my senior years.

Since it is summer, I can put off replacing my sneakers and hiking boots, both well over six years old.

June was a month when I would recharge after a year of school. I spent a lot of time on my own. I describe it in the video as a ‘book mark’ month rather than a ‘book end’ month.

You donate because you feel a connection – to me, to my blog, to my general activist work, or to my circumstances. So I’m going to spend June reminding both of us of that connection. Short sort of ‘blog prompts’ about my first Pride, my coming out, my first gay crush, the various Prides I’ve been involved with, some history, and so forth.bit.

There will be cats.

I am going to post this original content on the GoFundMe and Patreon first. Then the blog. That’s about as exclusive as I can get.

Here are the donation links
