I’m doing a thing in June, a thing I call #PghPridePosts.
I need to reenergize my Legal and Living Expenses crowdfund. Both are still very much a challenge for me. Embedded in that plea are the costs of this blog. I pay them from my own SSDI funds – $1500/month or $18,000 annually. I make a pittance from the ads that I am actually trying to delete. I have three monthly donors to the blog. I have a few folks on Patreon.
If the divorce does not recognize the 16 year of domestic partnership, I will be living of $1500. I can barely live off that now with some supports. Housing? Medical care? Transportation? Let’s circle back to housing. I won’t find housing. Even getting on a list for subsidized housing will take years.
I won’t be able to keep the blog going.
The situation is isolating. The blog is also a solitary life. They both take a toll.
Posting winding legal updates about what might happen loses its appeal after three years. So let’s try something new.
You donate because you feel a connection – to me, to my blog, to my general activist work, or to my circumstances. So I’m going to spend June reminding both of us of that connection. Short sort of ‘blog prompts’ about my first Pride, my coming out, my first gay crush, the various Prides I’ve been involved with, some history, and so forth.bit.
There will be cats.
I am going to post this original content on the GoFundMe and Patreon first. Then the blog. That’s about as exclusive as I can get.
