Now it really is an honor to be nominated for LGBT person of the year and lesbian of the year (and even couple of the year along with Ledcat.) I appreciate that, I do.
But this blog is a labor of love. And frustration, anger, tears, rage, happiness, joy, excitement, mischief and more. It is the best way I know how to draw attention to us – to our stories, our needs, our triumphs and our challenges. Sometimes, it works. Sometimes, it goes nowhere and sometimes it blows up in my face. But I persevere because sometimes it works.

This blog is bigger than me even though I do most of the writing and editing. It in inspired by your stories, your words and your feedback. And it would be an honor to be recognized for all of that. I’m just synthesizing many experiences, even though I am ultimately responsible for the way they impact the world. I’ll take the blame when things go awry, but I’d love to share a few moments of satisfaction in realizing that a woman driven LGBTQ media outlet could hold her own with the guys.
National blogging awards will never recognize local queer blogs. Never. Either we’ll be dwarfed by the power of the heterosexual cultural bloggers or the national LGBTQ blogs. And that’s okay.
I’d appreciate your vote!
