Its Hard To Be a Gay

Dear Lord … try reading this story from the Post-Gazette about the battle between a dead woman’s wife and her parents for $41,000. It is like a Law & Order/Harry’s Law mashup, with a heavy dose of Vatican Court thrown in for good measure.

This is where the battle over DOMA takes us … into the courtroom again and again to win our rights inch by inch.

Imagine the people who should be united in their mourning being ripped apart over the principle of marriage. It isn’t hard to imagine because it happens everywhere. Every day.

My head spins trying to sort this all out … thankfully, my partner is a lawyer. And she’s patient when she explains these to me.
