First off, I realized I wrote a blog post about August 26 on August 26, but referenced August 27. It doesn’t change the tone or tempo of the post. A little embarrassing, but let’s try to look at it as a symptom of the trauma . OR a sign the trauma isn’t as bad as I thought.
I woke up and waited. Made coffee. Cleaned up some stuff. Moved some things around the first floor. Waited. Waited. Waited some more.
Surely I would be inspired by this powerful day to write an amazing blog post, drenched in fury and laced with the wrath only a post-menopausal woman wronged can channel.
I ate some banana bread. Drank a second cup of coffee. Watched more episodes from Season Four of Buffy. Went to my cat colony, fed everyone, made a quick reel. Took out some recycling.
Oh, I did unpack two deliveries.
Just a day. Well, except for the part I was researching the person who sent me a slightly unhinged message referencing my death. Not a direct threat, but weird. Rambling threat-like posts can be the worst.
I have that work. Diving into the head space of someone who isn’t very fun. The civil and criminal dockets in their state are not online. Great. Scroll through old posts, unsure what I’m looking for. But heck, he invited me into this dance. Heck?
Then I spent some time with neighbors who will be working with me on a safety plan for death reference dude and my local stalker. Well, one of them. Someone else is working to keep a reemerging stalker from getting near me. And then I keep updating both of my therapists about all of this.
Let’s pivot. Tonight I found our 18 year old Siamese quite wet as she perched innocently on the kitchen table. She has this cyst fluid thing that hangs from her. It is oozing. Just clear liquid so she’s okay until the vet opens. But I’ve spent a lot of minutes tonight holding paper towels around her to make her more comfortable.
I’m glad I bought more paper towels this week.
This is one of those situations. At her last vet appointment, I asked about draining it. Vet insisted it wasn’t necessary, but my gut said otherwise. I think the extra weight tore her fragile skin a bit. So back to the vet we go. Note to self, listen to intuition about cats.
I did make an excellent smoothie tonight, closer to an Orange Julius than I’ve made before. Kale, vanilla oat milk, a glop or two of vanilla lowfat Greek yogurt, two bananas and two halos. It was pretty great. And using a little extra oat milk pulverized the kale a little more than usual.
And I saw this victory by the Starbucks workers union
