His name is Checkers. He’s been on the lam since escaping his carrier at Humane Animal Rescue (HAR) Northside a few days ago. Marie saw the flyer online and sprang into action. While I posted around the nearby Facebook groups, she headed out with treats and a carrier. Starting at last reported sighting, she “thought like a cat” and about ten minutes later, caught sight of Checkers. His human is there now with traps and a familiar face. UPDATE – Checkers has been secured.
You may remember a similar circumstance in 2021 with cat named ‘Diddy’? Or Buddy?
While our focus is distributing pet food, we do more
- Staff the Fort Faulsey cat colony, five regulars and assorted occasional visitors
- Find missing cats – Buddy, Onyx, Ginger Snap, Gingey
- Help neighbors find their missing cats with technical support and encouragement
- Carl, Billie Bean, and Scarlett in past three months
- Organize crowdfunds to help neighbors with unexpected vet bills
- Temporarily hold cats on their way to or from rescue to permanent homes
- Make and distribute winter shelters
- Lend traps, cameras, carriers, etc.
- Redistribute gently used beds, carriers, dishes, leashes, and more.
- Transport cats to and from all sorts of places
We are not a rescue. We do have to take care of the veterinary needs of our colony cats. As of now that includes Oksana, Maylee, and Callie.
Oksana needs a dental. Callie needs a dental, maybe more. Maylee just has fleas but because we sedated her and did every possible test to find out what’s wrong – big bill.
The others need vet visits to update their vaccines, check their health.
So we need YOUR help to allow gus to continue doing these others things for the community.
We want to be here for neighbors and cats.
We urgently need to raise the money for these vet bills.
