The worst kind of horrifying moment for Danielle Dehoniesto was when she found her 27-year-old Black trans daughter, Kamora Woods, dead on the floor from a gunshot wound. Her mother found Kamora half-naked in her bedroom, shot in the head. This was June 26, 2025 in Indianapolis.
Police determined that Kamora died June 25, 2025 and have a suspect in custody, 23-year-old James Wallace.
Security video from the Scarborough Lake Apartments showed a woman getting out of Woods’ car and entering her building at 2:14 p.m. on June 25, according to court documents. At 2:41, another vehicle entered the property, later discovered to be a Lyft ride, and dropped off a man believed to be Wallace. But only 17 minutes after the man was seen entering the building, he walked back out and left the complex alone. CBS4 Indy
Wallace has a prior history of violence and targeting women. His story about his presence in Kamora’s apartment changed. He had pawned Kamora’s cell phone. He’s now facing preliminary charges of murder, murder during commission of a felony and robbery
