A one woman riot rejects calls for unity

My most recent Instagram discovery is the artist MILCK. I should have known about her, maybe I did.

I’ve said before that I dislike the artificiality of calls for unity. Unity is not a tent nor an umbrella, not even a physical place. Unity is a battle cry, a silent affirmation, a demand to know why, steely determination. It is forged in spaces lacking gilt, lackluster rooms where secrets spilled. Unity is not a choice, it is a demand to acknowledge bone and blood, but it has not one voice. Unity must be earned. Or have we still not learned?
