How “recent government regulations” paused fundraising for a local LGBTQ nonprofit

We’ve been through an ordeal with our crowdfunding platforms.

The reason given? “Due to recent government regulations, your account was more than likely restricted as a precautionary measure.”

What recent government regulations do you know about that would be tied to our small nonprofit? The cats? The clothing drive? Hmmm.

Note that we do not receive any federal funding. No grant or foundation funding. We received a handful of corporate donations (I think maybe five?) and the rest comes from community donations.

My opinion is that it is the LGBTQ part of nonprofit. Our paperwork was solid. We’ve been receiving payouts since 2021. Nothing has changed, except our support of trans and queer folx being emphasized more firmly.

The ‘pause’ held up $3000 in pending donations, $1100 has still not been released. Meanwhile, we have two cats needing surgery and enough food to get through December.

If this has happened to your nonprofit, please tell us.
