Nonbinary and queer artist of Dominican descent was killed in Seattle in December 2024

Jonny Adamow was a casualty when they were shot to death in Seattle last year. Adamow was killed by gunfire intended for another person. The shooter was allegedly targeting another individual when he fired 10 rounds. One hit Jonny in the chest. In April, local police charged Charles Hickman with first degree murder.

Born and raised in New York City, Jonny graduated from North Rockland High School and attended Rockland Community College. They were involved in multiple artistic disciplines as a percussionist and actor. Jonny is remembered for their commitment to environmental preservation. They were also active in the Renaissance Faire.

Their obituary shared the family love and respect for Jonny.

Beloved Denver trans hair stylist disappeared for two months; found dead with no conclusive outcome

According to the website Remembering Our Dead, Jax’s body was found just under two months after she had gone missing on 15th April. Her death is consdered suspicious, but a coroner was unable to determine her cause of death.

Jax’s family and friends continue to seek answers and justice. They’ve established a Facebook group, Justice for Jax Gratton.

This group is ferocious – they continue to push, turning out at meetings, rallies, advocating on every front.

Jax was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. She adored her pet cat, she was creative and expressive. She was loved.

Trans woman, 58, shot to death by her stepfather in Oxford, Mississippi

On 21 Mar 2025, police in Oxford, Mississippi responded a ‘domestic’ call and found Charlene Cook, 58, a transgender woman, dead at the scene. Her stepfather was taken into custody without incident.

Charlene was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi but grew up in Oxford. She earned her Associate’s Degree from Northwest Community College. She loved nature, was very bonded with her pets, and was a talented guitarist.

There’s no information on why he killed her.

28 year old Black trans woman Dream Johnson murdered in Washington, D.C.

Local media reported the murder of a transgender woman who they say was shot to death at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, on the 2000 block of Benning Road, N.E.

Dream was found, transported to hospital where she died.

A suspect was apprehended in September. Dream’s family believes she was the victim of a hate crime.

“Stay true to yourself, embrace who you are–like Dream did,” Vanna said. Vanna was Dream’s aunt.

Trans woman run over, dies of injuries in Austin, Texas

Kyla Jane Walker, 39, died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit and run. When she transitioned she had reportedly been ostracised by all of her birth family other than her sister. This was November 10, 2024

An arrest was made on a charge of collision involving death a week later on 17th January.

Kyla was a guitarist, had a dark sense of humor, and persevered when her entire family shunned her. She remained close to a sister who ensured her final arrangements reflected her identity (and wishes) and set up a memorial at the location of her death.

California Latina trans woman killed in hit and run

Jay Floris was killed in a hit and run incident while walking their service dog. They worked with people escaping domestic violence situations and were well known in their community.

Jay was 24 years old and used they/them pronouns. Their family has advocated for her. The suspect is in custody.

“It is truly a tragedy. They were young and 23, still had a full life ahead of them.” Jay’s sister Herring said. “They did not deserve to be killed because someone wanted to be reckless. This not only impacts our life, this guy’s whole family is going to be impacted because of his stupid decision.”
