My Eyes are Pink and Painful

Pink eye. Get it?

I was 54 years old before I contracted double pink eye – conjunctivitis in both eyes. And it sucks.

Woke up this morning with nasal congestion and that weird weepy need to depressurize feeling in my left eye. I thought it was sinuses. Blew my nose, drank a hot beverage and it was no better. So I took a decongestant and kept going with my morning. By late morning, I was miserable and could tell the decongestant wasn’t working.

Slightly worried, I called my doctor and the triage nurse practitioner spoke with me. He determined it would not be safe for me to drive so we used good old fashioned diagnostics – I texted him photos of my eyes. He said “yep” and called in eyedrops for me.

Is this revenge for my recent post about growing bullies about my eye deformities? Are my eyes rebelling?

Pink eye hurts. I’ve been taking ibuprofen and Tylenol, they help. Cool compress. Washing my hands every 20 seconds. Wiping down all surfaces I may have touched that the other person in my home might touch.

Then I used the Google to see if its transmissible pets. Resounding YES. So I call our vet. I was instructed to let my housemate handle the pet food/water stuff and not touch the cats faces and wash my hands before petting them.

Marie took over Fort Faulsey. I asked my housemate to handle the cats, but they did not. So I got out disposable paper plates, washed my hands, dished out the supper, washed my hands again. And I put treats on disposable paper plates rather than distribute be hands. The cats are confused by my reticence to engage.

I could not drive to the pharmacy. I asked some folks but no one was available. One friend is going in the morning. I have to take Mucinex and the eyedrops. And see (ha!) what happens by Monday.

One benefit of glasses is that I touch them, not my eyes. My eyes do not touch them very much. So it is something to reduce transmission. I keep washing my eyeglasses, too.

Pink eye hurts.

I ordered multiple dishes from the Chinese restaurant so I don’t have to cook or handle dishes or pots.

I was going to see two plays this weekend, but that’s out. That sucks. I’d go with sunglasses, but light hurts my eyes.

Pink eye hurts.

Where did I get it? My Timmons told me not to even try to figure it out unless I knew I had contact with someone who was infected. He says it is everywhere and I likely touched a counter or door when I was running errands. The goal is to avoid transmission to others and get better, not track down a source.

Man, October sucks so far. No pumpkin fests, most of my plays unseen, no pumpkin cookies, etc. I needed to be out this weekend buying a pumpkin for the house and for Fort Faulsey. I wanted to cook chicken noodle soup. I have to help get the pet food pantry distribution prepared.

Pink eye huts.

So my posting may be limited because screens hurt a bit.

I need some magazines, a pumpkin spice latte with oatmilk, and two pumpkins.
