Dr. John P. Ruffing VMD Pet Food Pantry Supports 70+ Caretakers and Households
Earlier this month, we informed you that the Dr. John P. Ruffing VMD Pet Food Pantry was almost out of supplies for our 70+ caretakers and households. We had to cancel our September distribution.
You came through and donated over 400 pounds of food the past few weeks. We are very grateful, but we need at least 250 additional pounds to be prepared for October. Even with that, we’ll have to cut back on distributions from 16 lbs to 10 lbs per caretaker.
In this video, I talk about our work and our plans for sustainability in the future. I was so disappointed that the media did not respond to our message. Yes, it is about cats and dogs. But it is more about our neighbors – 70 households who take care of community cats most people ignore, households that go out and trap strays to get them into rescues, households who have beloved pets that just need a little support to avoid having to relinquish them.
These are our neighbors. For the past 10 months, we’ve been able to support them. The list has grown, but so has the list of volunteers who help them by delivering food, helping haul things, and more. We received a grant for infrastructure from the Pirates. We have Gertie!
Support the pet food pantry. We need 250 pounds of dry food.
