On June 2, 2025, I created a video appeal for the Dr. John P. Ruffing VMD Pet Food Pantry – we were/are running low on pet food.

By the end of the week,we had received 890 pounds of dry food and $970 in $$ and gift cards. Maybe a few straggling donations will come in to round both off to 1000?

This is an unexpected turn of events and we are grateful. We distribute least 600 pounds of dry to our caretakers, TNR trappers, and pet owners. And we rely on donations. With the financial donations, we can buy diet/health specific foods, fill gaps, help buy bait for trapping, etc. Plus supplies – anyone who sets up a recurring donation of 36 rolls of paper towels is a hero.

The final video was a little more of an update while I was in the rain after prepping this week’s distribution.

Three lessons learned

• Dogs and cats bring people together in unique ways
• I am terrible with doing the finger pointy thing to make videos
• Math (addition) is a lifelong skill.
