First Issue of AMPLIFY Zine Available Now in Western PA, List of Distribution Spots

TonyZines

It is FINALLY here – Issue one of the AMPLIFY zine. And I think it is pretty awesome myself.

You can click here to see a web version of the zine with clickable links.

You can download a pdf version here to print.

You can pick up a hard copy at these locations – check back b/c distribution will continue as we connect with volunteers in other counties.

  • Persad Center, Lawrenceville
  • GLCC of Pittsburgh, Downtown
  • Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, East Liberty
  • K.S. Kennedy Floral, Northside
  • The Thomas Merton Center, Garfield

We’d very much like to get a copy to every library in Western PA along with coffeehouses, LGBTQ owned businesses and more. If you have a location to suggest, please leave a comment. And please let us know if you can volunteer to take some to that location.

Here’s something fun – K.S. Kennedy tucked a copy of the zine into a floral arrangements for Cyndi Lauper who was performing at the Carnegie Music Hall in Homestead last night. No word if she actually read it, but here’s hoping someone in her entourage read it and thought “Pittsburgh is awesome!”

As of right now, we do not have funding to mail copies – but we can be creative with our distribution efforts. Are you connected to a community group or a case manager or have a neighbor who is? Let us know and we’ll try to work it out.

A very special thanks to our editorial and layout team – Sam Thorp and Nina Sauer. Both were very patient with me as I went through Zine 101. They also did a marvelous job capturing my uninformed, but glorious vision for the layout. Nina was especially patient with working on the many ads. And Sam’s cover art is just breathtaking. It makes me cry a little bit each time I see it.

Plans for our special second edition mini-zine are underway – this will also serve as the event program for the stage event “Invisible in Plain Sight” created by Off The Wall Theater. If you are interested in a program sponsorship, let us know via email suecatsocialmedia@gmail.com
