How to Request Toys for Tots in Western Pennsylvania in 2022

This is our annual (10+ year) round-up of Toys for Tots programs in Western Pennsylvania for 2022. I’ve done my best to sort through the available information and provide you what you may need to know. PLEASE click through to the applicable link to doublecheck the details. I will update as information becomes available.

Some of the Toys for Tots pages are harsh and regimented. Others are heavy on Christian themes. Some are pretty respectful and dignified. I wish I could make it more respectful and dignified for everyone. Also, I cannot confirm that these projects are LGBTQ friendly/affirming. Some are affiliated with the Salvation Army or other faith-based organizations. So proceed with that in mind.

One thing I noticed is that most of the projects have cut back hours, enrollment times, toys that will be distributed, etc. A few other things to bear in mind

  • COVID-19 social distancing rules may apply so everyone in your group will need to wear masks and possibly be asked to have your temperature taken. This will impact everything from waiting in lines to pickup times.
  • Click through to your county link and triple check the information.
  • If you can find a Facebook page, I suggest liking it and checking regularly if there are COVID-19 updates.
  • COVID-19 vaccination requirements are unclear, but every distribution requires a mask. Bring a mask.

Please share this information with anyone who may need it and share it soon – some counties have cutoff dates in late October. Share in groups, share on pages, share via private email. People need accurate information.

Please note that the Play It Forward project is another option. We’ll do a separate post on their organization. Their distribution is To Be Announced. at the David Lawrence Convention Center. This project CAN be confirmed as LGBTQ welcoming and affirming. If you have items to donate, I very much suggest you consider Play It Forward. Here is their donation page.

You MUST sign up!  You may EITHER receive a prepackaged Holiday Box for your family OR shop in person. Sign up will go Live on November 14, 2022.

  • This year, you MUST sign up to receive toys.  During sign up, you will have the option to choose a PREPACKAGED BOX (Friday, December 16, 2022) that will be filled by our volunteers based on your wish list, OR you may come and shop IN PERSON (Saturday, December 17, 2022).   Recipients must sign up for the distribution in order to be on the list to receive items.
  • Signs ups will be on a first-come first come basis. Sign ups will open on Monday, November 14, 2022.  Half of the slots will open at 9am and the other half will open at 9pm to allow for varying schedules.   Additional sign up slots may become available if the number of donated items permits

When you visit the Toys for Tots websites, you can search by County. Be sure to click on the Request a Toy OR About Toys For Tots > Local and National News links if you don’t see information on the homepage. Poke around to find a phone number or email address.

Allegheny (Northeastern Allegheny, Northwestern Westmoreland and Armstrong Counties)

  • Applications accepted from individuals October 1- November 23, 2022.
  • Once you apply you will need to write down your control number as this will be used for you to check your applcation and to pick up your gifts.
    Please check your email offen as emails will be sent with Info. PLEASE only apply once and Only the parents or legal guardian can apply for toys for tots

Allegheny (Southern)

  • Enrollment: There is no enrollment. Simply be at the distribution with the required paperwork. Open House distribution for Toys for Tots is TBA. Location will be announced on December 11. ** Note Change – two distribution dates
  • October 14th – When nonprofits are able to submit requests for toys.
  • November 14th – Last day for nonprofits to submit for toy requests.
  • December 13th – Final day for drop off sites to donate toys.
  • December 14th – Final day for nonprofits to receive toys. 
  • December 15th and December 16th – Will be FAMILY ONLY distribution dates. Families wanting toys will be able to come by the warehouse December 15th-16th for Family Distribution Day! Address will be posted on the Family Request Page December 14th!

Allegheny (Northwestern) and Beaver counties

  • Enrollment by email only because of COVD-19.  DEADLINE Applications will be accepted til November 4. It may be opened again depending upon resources.
  • The age limit is birth to 12 years old. 
  • You must be the biological parent to apply for the child.
  • Please e-mail the following complected application (  this can be found here ) your photo ID of some type verification the children are yours….their birth certificates, welfare papers… any type of official papers stating your name with your child name & their birth dates current address section of a bill verifying your name & current address.  Please make sure you include a current phone & an e-mail.

  • Enrollment: Registration for 2022 will be on-line October 1-November 30
  • Go here to complete the form and click submit. PRINT your copy or screenshot it to take with you for the distribution. This will respond with the time and day for you to come pick up.
  • toys will be handed out December 14-16, 2022
  • Distribution – There will only be only 1 PERSON to come to pick up toys. Come 5 min before your time no sooner then that.  NO CHILDREN allowed to be present either. You must have a mask and gloves. If we allow parents to pick toys there will be no touching or handling the toys. You will have 10 minutes to select and be done.

  • Registration will be Oct 1- Nov 30 for toys and will run all month long for any Venango County child age 0-12.
  • There are 2 ways to register. There will be online registration as well as walk in registration.
  • Walk in registration will take place on the following dates: November 5, 12, & 19, 2022 from 9 am to 11:00 am  at the Oil City VFW, 2 Relief St., Oil City, PA
  • Online registration begins Nov 1 and lasts through the end of November at http://oil-city-pa.toysfortots.org
  • Distribution for registered families will be Saturday, 12-10-22 from 9 am to 1 pm at the Oil City VFW. 

Warren

  • October 12, 13, 14 and November 25 & 26, 2022 at the Marine Corps League Home (2355 Jackson Avenue Warren), from 1:00-5:00
  • Children and parents/guardians must reside in Warren County
  • Please bring children’s social security card.  *If you do not have your child’s social security card, there is time to obtain it before the final sign up.*
  • Children’s age limit is 16
  • These are the ONLY sign-up times/dates and NO phone/email applications will be accepted
  • TOY PICK UP IS SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 3rd AND 10th, 9:00-1:00, PER YOUR SIGN UP PAPER AT PENDLETON MARINE CORPS LEAGUE, 2355 JACKSON AVENUE, PHONE: 723-4913.
