The LGBTQ Victory Fund reported on 13 Pennsylvania LGBTQ candidates who won their elections this week, including two from Western Pennsylvania: Jessica Semler in Etna Borough and Bruce Kraus in City of Pittsburgh.
two THREE more names to this list. Edward Alo and Anthony Saba, both openly gay, were elected to Crafton Borough Council. What’s more, Edward and Anthony are a married couple, perhaps the first married LGBTQ couple to serve together on any municipal body in this region? Then I discovered via Facebook sharing that Jonathan Patrick Warner, an openly gay cis man, was elected to Indiana Borough Council in Indiana County. He’s possibly the first openly gay elected official in Indiana County. And he’s a gay climate scientist. Be still my heart.
Edward experienced some homophobic-laced backlash during the campaign. We’ll be following up with him and Anthony very soon along with the others to provide more details about this incredibly rainbow wave in Western PA that has literally grown by 150% overnight.
Meanwhile, congratuations to our
four five elected (new and reelected) officials in Western Pennsylvania.
