A statement from Christian Carter’s family

You may recognize Christian from his tireless work on the frontlines of recent actions seeking #Justice4AntwonRose. On Wednesday afternoon, 18-year-old Christian was taken to a local hospital for what his mother thought was exhaustion, dehydration and malnourishment. It turns out he was having an appendicitis attack and is scheduled for immediate surgery. His family is with him and he is expected to make a complete recovery.

Christian’s family is asking that everyone please give him at least 24-48 uninterrupted hours to rest and regain his strength. Encouraging messages and good wishes are very welcome on his various social media channels. He will be released on Thursday and we expect he’ll be back online ASAP. Christian asks organizing requests be redirected to Nia A. or other organizers.

Christian’s family wants to remind everyone, especially other young organizers, to take care of themselves. Drink plenty of water, eat something healthy each day, and get some rest. Your work is important, but your health and welfare are also important. This weekend will be especially hot with expected temps in the 90s, so please stay hydrated.

The family requests that rather then sending flowers or gifts to Christian, please make donations to the #Justice4Antwon efforts. Cards, notes, and social media contact with Christian will be much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Christian Carter’s family
