A blog as a shared space of issues. The Post-Gazette explores this blog.

A few weeks ago, I had coffee with Diana Nelson Jones for what I thought would be a brief mention in the Post-Gazette about the blog’s nomination for a GLAAD Media Award. The award will be presented this Thursday.

Turns out that article was more extensive and expansive than I thought. She called people and quoted people and they said nice things about me. And she wrote this:

“Besides being an LGBT advocate on her blog, Ms. Kerr casts her net more widely for material. The result is a shared space of issues, no pigeon holes, no margins. You can be trans and appreciate grief over the death of a pet. You can be bisexual and care whether Amazon picks Pittsburgh. You can be gay and care about fracking. You can be a lesbian who interned for a religious conservative politician.”

She really gets me. When I talk about a queer political blog, this is what I mean. And it feels so incredibly affirming to be heard and seen, especially by a veteran female journalist in my hometown.

I really appreciate the acknowledgement by local media outlets
