Chris Potter at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette covers the HRC response to a position paper from Republican gubernatorial candidate Paul Mango. Mango taps into the ‘lightning rod’ issue of bathroom access for the transgender and GNC communities.

Cyd Zeigler at OUTSports explores the lack of public statement from Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin on LGBTQ issues. Tomlin is a member of anti-LGBTQ Allegheny Alliance Center Church on the Northside. Contrast this with the decision by Pirates’ Clint Hurdle to take the lead in the team’s ‘It Gets Better’ video released in 2012. 

From Nature International Journal of Science, Kale Edmiston, a postdoc at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, uses neuroimaging to study mood and anxiety disorders. He describes how living as an openly transgender researcher has inspired his outreach endeavours.

From earlier in November, the City Paper interviewed Effy, an openly queer wrestler who plays with that perception of sexuality in his in-ring performances.

The Observer-Reporter covers the Washington County Gay Straight Alliance walk on Transgender Day of Remembrance.

The Beaver County Times reported that Republican and Christian groups had previous knowledge that recently resigned Ohio State House member Wes Goodman was engaging in same-sex sexual activity. Goodman was also accused of fondling a sleeping 18 year old male student during a a Christian conference.

Local blogger Ali Davis wrote a thoughtful reflection on change in her life and how it ties to the Trans Day of Remembrance.
