Here’s a Video of Our Door

I can’t think of anything to blog about today. My mind is reeling between topics including the #BlackLivesMatter protests and the disclosure about Rolling Stone’s botched story on sexual assault. I’m also coping with some minor home renovations and – toughest of all – the looming surgery my 13 year old dog will have on Thursday to remove a cancerous growth on his leg. So I’ve spent my time coping with everything from the back door to the house being removed for many (cold) hours to Xander falling down the stairs to trying to give Amadeus a sponge bath of sorts in the middle of the living room.

So here is a video of our door. This is the interior door in our living room. Our contractors removed it and took it to their shop/art gallery to refurbish it. We had originally hoped to replace it with something from Construction Junction. It is not original to the house anyway and the glass panes are uncomfortably loose. But Jeff from MWFA Contracting suggested he simply fix it and restain it since it actually fits nicely in the doorway it has occupied for decades.

Reuse is good. Doors are good. And tomorrow all the doors in the house will be operational and sealed and such. I am grateful for that. Sitting in my living room with no back door and watching the internal temperature drop down to 57 before it was replaced makes me grateful for blankets, space heaters and furnaces. And doors.

If I had all the money in the world, I’d like to renovate our home in one day – like magic. Ah well …
