Millions wear purple on Spirit Day in a stand against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth. Observed annually since 2010, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, and public figures wear purple, which symbolizes ‘spirit’ on the rainbow flag.
In the “spirit” of the day, the GLCC – Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ Community Center – will have a table set up at ScareHouse in Etna to connect with hundreds of allies. Good reason to check out the basement?
Don’t underestimate the importance of allies – it matters that someone cares and it matters that they care out loud.
