Re: Re: Re: Pittsburgh is a great place to be gay
by Anonymous
Honestly, it happened at The Firehouse Lounge by accident. I was sitting with its owner at an event one night, talking about the many groups who host functions at this club. "What are you doing for gay women in Pittsburgh," I asked. "Nothing," he said. I suggested screening The L Word, and he gave me a 6-week trial to bring in a good group. On our best weeks, we had more than 150 women there, and the party went strong for the duration of the season. As I said, the numbers dropped off when the season ended, but I considered it such a triumph for our community. I want to host more LGBT events in "straight" spaces. Smoke-free, too : ) I'll pitch something for Pride Week. Best, Victoria
