Re: Pittsburgh is a great place to be gay
by
Mark Rauterkus
Do you know that it is NOT yet illegal to discriminate on the basis of political party.
It is okay, for example, to snub me, a Libertarian, because I'm a Libertarian. Luke does NOT need to appoint me to the Pgh Ethics Hearing Board. City officials don't need to return my phone calls. The Housing Authority does NOT need to rent me an place to rest my weary head -- if I needed such a place. And, the URA does NOT need to do a no-bid contract for me so I can hang my electronic flashing lighted billboard upon some brand new public building -- because I'm a Libertarian.
I'm glad for you that Pittsburgh has all of its hang-ups resolved and you are not targeted in any way -- other than the billboard privileges I assume.
It would not be right to bash those you mention in the heathy rant, so I won't. But, one group that is NOT mentioned is the Libertarian Party of Allegheny County, who can be on the next level behind the GSPC. We Libs don't need a 'stonewall' sub-group for people to feel at home. We enjoy the company of all freedom loving people within our main body, including the board. ;)
Furthermore, another 'group' worthy of a mention are the church communities. There are great options among Unitarian Universalists in Pittsburgh -- as well as other faith groups.
Yes, Pittsburgh is a great place. Great post.
