Yinz ‘R Scrooged Explores Classic Themes With Pittsburgh Twist

yinz 'r scrooged

If you haven’t been to a performance of Midnight Radio at Bricolage theater, you are missing a terrific show (or shows) in the style of a 1940’s radio program.  The final show of the season is a ‘Pittsburgh flavored’ take on the Charles Dickens holiday classic. Written by Tami Dixon, Yinz ‘R Scrooged introduces us to the trials and tribulations of a yinzerized cast exploring the familiar themes of poverty, class disdain, charity, compassion and forgiveness.

I can’t ruin the surprise around the identity of the Ebeneezer Scrooge character, but I promise you won’t be disappointed. You’ll laugh uproariously and raise your eyebrows at the not so subtle digs. Much like the original novel, it is very political if you are paying attention. You’ll love the Pittsburghese and the many, many puns. It is a word play paradise.

The show continues through December 19 with shows at 8 PM, doors at 7 PM. They even have a fun little happy hour at 7:30 with egg nog and all of the fun stuff. Tickets are $35, $25 for students.

I also want to give a little shout-out to the Bricolage team. Each time we call and request an accommodation, they are responsive and respectful. I love that they have two gender neutral bathrooms. They do a very nice job incorporating social media into the happy hour festivities. Really, this space is a gem because of the people involved.
