I met Kerry in 2005 after reading about his store – KS Kennedy Distinctive Floral – in an LGBTQ publication. We began patronizing him to support an LGBTQ owned business and became friends. Kerry loves Pittsburgh and is very much part of the fabric of the Northside. He’s a big supporter of events like Persad’s Art for Change and the Gay & Lesbian Community Center. He’s also known for promoting relatively obscure contributions to LGBTQ culture – such as JC Leyendecker (see below) and devotes quite a bit of time to exploring their history and sharing that information. Kerry is making his own impact on Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ community, from introducing strolling tables to being an outspoken chamion of other LGBTQ businesses. He’s also a multiple-award winning floral designer who is much sought after by brides in this region.

How do you stay informed on LGBTQ issues? Internet ..your blog..
What is the most important issue facing the LGBTQ community today? I assume it would be marriage, although I have never believed it mattered for me..I have always had relationships and felt equal in all ways. But..for others in our community I understand and appreciate the importance.
If you could wave a magic wand and change one thing in Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ community, what would it be? Lack of community groups ..Seems if it is not bar related we see very few.
Past or present, favorite LGBTQ character in television, film or literature? American Artist, JC Leyendecker, one of America’s true unsung heros.
What is one simple thing a reader can do to support the LGBTQ community? Volunteer, Support and Educate.. You should know I can never stop at just one thing!
